Angelina is a pretty little mouse who wants nothing more than to be a ballerina。 She dances all the time—at home, at school, even in her dreams! In fact, she’s so busy dancing that she forgets all about the other things she’s supposed to do, like cleaning her room and joining her family for breakfast!

Her parents don’t know what to do—especially after her arabesques in the kitchen knock over the milk! Then one day they come up with an idea that will change Angelina’s life forever…

With Katharine Holabird’s lively writing and Helen Craig’s charming illustrations, the original story, now refreshed and re-released, will continue keeping a whole new generation of young ballerinas leaping with delight。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book is about a mouse who cannot stop daydreaming and dancing so is always late to things, her mother decides to buy her some ballet clothes and lessons and she becomes a ballerina。 This book would be great for children who have an interest in ballet as they will be very engaged with the material。 As a child I loved this book as it combined two things I love, ballet and animals。

(1 year and 10 months) Whilst this is one our daughter enjoyed, we're going to throw it out。 It's incredibly gendered (talk of the little girl being pretty and a stereotypical focus on ballet - note that the book is pink) with a very weak moral to the story。 One part in the book is particularly concerning: Angelina is described as 'good' if she allows the boys to catch her in the playground - this is a very worrying inference for children and we're surprised this was published by Puffin。 (1 year and 10 months) Whilst this is one our daughter enjoyed, we're going to throw it out。 It's incredibly gendered (talk of the little girl being pretty and a stereotypical focus on ballet - note that the book is pink) with a very weak moral to the story。 One part in the book is particularly concerning: Angelina is described as 'good' if she allows the boys to catch her in the playground - this is a very worrying inference for children and we're surprised this was published by Puffin。 。。。more

Such a cute book for a little dancer。 Although I’m happy it works out for Angelina in the end, in terms of storytelling it is very abrupt。 I loved the illustrations as well- highly detailed!

3。5 stars。I love how Angelina’s parents analyzed her behavior and found a positive way to channel her energy so she could get her chores done AND enjoy dancing。 A great response。

Very cute animal based children's picture book that shows both sides of the family story :) That a child's activity can be annoying, but that as adults we do everything we can to help put children grow。 For the child it shows that with lots of practice and balance of other activities, they can make their dreams come true。 Very cute animal based children's picture book that shows both sides of the family story :) That a child's activity can be annoying, but that as adults we do everything we can to help put children grow。 For the child it shows that with lots of practice and balance of other activities, they can make their dreams come true。 。。。more

I know this is a "refreshed" version of the original, but there is NOTHING in this book (including copyright/publisher info) that I have found where it actually states that the original story was published in 1983。 That seems like a major omission and disservice to both the book's creators and readers。 I know this is a "refreshed" version of the original, but there is NOTHING in this book (including copyright/publisher info) that I have found where it actually states that the original story was published in 1983。 That seems like a major omission and disservice to both the book's creators and readers。 。。。more

Angelina was literally my favorite book when I was little, and one of the earliest books I can remember being read to me/reading myself once I learned how。 I was obsessed, and even had a pink tutu just like hers。 💖 Revisiting this book as an adult was utterly lovely, and left me feeling bubbly-happy。 The art was just as warm and charming as I remember, and I now know why I developed such an affection for The Sugarplum Fairy (Angelina’s dream sequence)。 I love this book just as much, if not more, Angelina was literally my favorite book when I was little, and one of the earliest books I can remember being read to me/reading myself once I learned how。 I was obsessed, and even had a pink tutu just like hers。 💖 Revisiting this book as an adult was utterly lovely, and left me feeling bubbly-happy。 The art was just as warm and charming as I remember, and I now know why I developed such an affection for The Sugarplum Fairy (Angelina’s dream sequence)。 I love this book just as much, if not more, than I did as a little girl。 I actually didn’t remember the ending, and it was such a great surprise when I realized what it was! A stroy about a pretty little mouse who loves to dance so much that she never does any of her chores。It is a good book targeted for 4-6 yr olds to follow your dreams but I wonder if the children are gonna take away the fact you can do what you want to achieve your dreams after reading the book。 A minor point maybe but something that made me think。
